Effort Certification and Reporting
Time and effort reporting is one of many complex management problems faced by sponsored projects and research administrators. Problems result from administering various interpretations of federal reporting guidelines as well as difficulties in gaining needed cooperation from research faculty, scientists and staff. Failure to comply properly with federal reporting guidelines can be costly.
Effort AdministratorTM from IT Works is a web-based time and effort certification and reporting system designed for administrators and research faculty / staff in higher education and independent research institutes. Effort AdministratorTM is designed to interface to and receive current effort information from your payroll, human resources, general ledger, and other ERP solutions. Research faculty / staff can review, update, and certify their own effort. Administrators can then verify and approve this process. Effort AdministratorTM tracks both award paid and cost shared effort.
Our effort reporting software also tracks committed effort and pending effort. This information can be either manually entered into Effort AdministratorTM, imported from another grant management system, or feed from either our College AdministratorTM or Department ManagerTM products. In any case, committed effort is compared to actual effort and warning signs alert users to differences between them. Effort on pending proposals is also available for review.
Effort AdministratorTM includes a multi-tiered security system that allows administrators to view and certify effort by college, department, division, program, or investigator. Our certification process includes an electronic signature and stores certified effort records historically. Effort AdministratorTM allows for customizable account structures, field labels, and effort period calendars.
